Founded in 1977, Newton Vineyard is one of the most prestigious estates in California’s Napa Valley. The famous American critic Robert Parker actually devoted an article to it in his reference work The World’s Greatest Wine Estates. Located on the steep slopes of Spring Mountain, the estate, spanning just about 260 hectares, produces wines that are vinified separately then blended together. Each of the 112 parcels is planted with a specific grape variety – merlot, cabernet franc, chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon or petit verdot.
With its close relationship to the surrounding nature, the estate alternates vines with wooded areas in order to preserve a vast array of biodiversity throughout the vineyards. In 1990, innovative Newton Vineyard launched Newton Unfiltered Chardonnay, one of the first unfiltered wines produced and sold within the United States, and which has become an international leader.
